Our Vision
Our vision is to be THE go-to media platform for residents of and visitors to Centurion.
Our vision is to facilitate a process that informs, educates, and inspires our clients and residents in such a way that it leads to a safe and sustainable thriving community that takes individual and corporate responsibility for the city of Centurion.
Our Mission
Our mission is making differences differently, by providing all Centurions with a local online television channel, a local business directory, and a local events calendar, that is fully supported by the citizens, businesses, foundations, and public representatives of this city.
We Are Centurion Business Directory will provide affordable and effective exposure to local businesses and We Are Centurion Events Calendar will showcase events that contribute towards a better community.
We Are Centurion TV will broadcast programs that inform, educate, inspire, and entertain our people; programs that discuss current issues; programs that satisfy our curiosity, our musical ear, our artistic eye and even our sense of humour; and ultimately present programs that respect our intelligence.
We Are Centurion TV will connect the residents of this city to each other, to their city and their world using online television, the internet and community outreach projects. We will be an electronic city square where the sharing of ideas, opinions, and information are encouraged.
We Are Centurion TV will therefore generate programs and content that will impact and transform the community in a sustainable way by making differences differently.
Another important part of our mission is to educate and train people of all ages in the skills of media and communication. We will do this through shadowing programs, college and university internships, and teaching volunteers who want to explore a career in media and communications.
Our Values
Localism: Different to mainstream media programming, we support local viewpoints, perspectives and the interests of our local community.
Diversity of Viewpoints-Participatory: Local residents and organizations must be able to make and telecast media that reflects local experiences. Democracy works best when a wide array of voices and opinions can be seen and heard.
Promote Dialogue and Discussion: Community conversations are key to building a vibrant community. The telecasting of programs provides residents, government, business, and non-profit organizations with critical information and creates an opportunity for dialogue around issues and concerns that residents and the community must address. We build community through media.
Civic Engagement and Owned Citizenship: We encourage active involvement in civic life. Many of the decisions that most affect our lives are made at the local level by the city’s appointed and elected officials. Community media keeps the public informed about local government elections, about social services, and other important local political and economic development activities. We seek to build a strong community of citizens who can make educated, informed choices for their city and their world.
Honesty: All that we do must be with integrity and fairness, whether we are choosing programs to air; communicating with our viewers, members, and citizens; or working with our colleagues and volunteers.
Accountability: We will always take ownership of the choices made by our staff and volunteers, and will use our mission, vision, and values to inform all decisions.
Impact: The success of our videos and TV programs/shows will be measured by the positive impact they have on our citizens and community and not by the number of views they generate. The feedback from our viewers and members of the community will inform our choices for programming and outreach.
Integrity: We are trustworthy and reliable. We practise and encourage open and honest communication. We are responsible for our actions and accountable to our business partners and clients.
We Are Centurion is a secular enterprise focused on serving our city and community. However, as a biblically founded organization, we desire that God and His Kingdom is glorified in us and through us.
