ALERT: CELLPHONE GRABBING INCIDENTS ON THE RISE
Lyttelton CPF Sector 2 Community Notice
We’ve received reports of an increase in cellphone grabbing around Lyttelton Centre and other nearby shopping centres.
These incidents involve suspects snatching phones directly from people’s hands — often while they’re texting, on a call, or using their phones in public spaces.
A recent article in the Centurion Rekord confirms that this trend is affecting the greater Centurion area as well. Read more here:

Safety Tips:
• Avoid using your cellphone openly while walking or standing outside shops.
• When making or receiving a call, stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
• Keep your phone out of sight when not in use — store it securely in a bag or pocket.
• Be extra cautious near parking areas, entrances, and traffic lights.
• Report any suspicious activity immediately to CPF Patrols, Lyttelton SAPS, or your Neighbourhood Watch group.
